Trikke T8 Air Review
It’s time for my first Trikke T8 air review.. Well.. it’s more a first impression after riding it for a couple hours over the last couple week. I plan on doing another review after I have more time on the Trikke so I can show more of the advanced things like hill climbing on the Trikke and curb jumps etc.
First of all.. It’s fun to ride.
I was able to jump on the Trikke and within minutes I was able to get moving slowly and within 10-15 minutes I was zipping around pretty good. The side to side motion of the Trikke is like no other. Trikke describes it pretty well as a human powered carving vehicle. It’s almost like a skiing side to side motion that you get when carving down a slope on your skis. With the Trikke you do not need to kick the ground like a scooter, you just move the front wheel side to side to get started and then you start twisting your hips and carving with your legs to get going faster. It’s alot of fun to ride.
High quality and great craftsmanship.
When I first opened the box I was surprised at the craftsmanship and quality of the Trikke. I was expecting a standard type of large scooter, but quickly found out that this was much different that an ordinary scooter. The vehicle weighs 22 lbs and comes with a 6061 aluminum frame, aluminum wheels, air filled tires, individual real brakes and adjustable height handle bars. Let’s just say that it’s impressive to look at and it can handle people up to 250lbs. Oh.. I forgot to mention that it folds up so it can fit in your trunk.
Low impact Workout.
You definitely get a workout when riding the Trikke, but I noticed that I was working different muscles that I normally do when riding bike or running. I noticed a workout in my triceps and shoulders as well as my quads. It’s definitely a low impact workout because everything you do is a fluid motion. I will let you know more about the workout aspect of the Trikke next time after I have had more ride time.
Hill Climbing.
If you watched the video, Brian gave me an additional week to practice the hills on the Trikke for the bet that we have. I figure I will need a couple more hours on it before I can climb that hill.
Don’t forget to grab the RSS feed, signup for our email newsletter or follow me on Twitter to find out if I can climb that hill on the Trikke.

Hi Brent, loved the review you did on the T8 Air. This is an awesome machine that gives you a great full body, low impact ride. On the video you did great, but you did forget one important part and that is safety equipment (Helmet) Even I a Certified Trikke Trainer wears my helmet ever time I hit the trail, also lower your handle bars down to belly button height, this will help you when you head for the hill climbing. You will want your weight somewhat forward to help that front wheel from skidding out from underneath you… great job and watch out because these machines are very addicting.. Lisa (an avid Trikke Rider)
Thanks for the comment. I am sure you can tell, I only had a little time on the Trikke before shooting the video. I will try lowering the handlebars for the final video where I climb that hill. I have to find some time to get at least another hour of training in before I try the hill again.
The video is meant more as a first look overview of the machine, I hope it doesn’t come off as a technical review or a how to ride type of video. I leave those for the professionals like you.
FYI.. We will be giving this Trikke away soon. Check back here for details.
Thanks for the tips, next time I will wear a helmet.
I agree with Lisa that you should wear a helmet when riding. Perhaps you don’t wear a helmet when you mountain bike but you should. There are ten versions of the Trikke carving vehicle. It would be cool if you reviewed the Trikke Pon-e, T-12, T-78 and the Trikke Skki. All of the Trikke Carving Vehicles are well made and designed to carve many ways in many places. I love to bomb hills on my Pon-e and Trikke Skki. Trikke vehicles are just plain fun. thanks for a fun review and I look forward to more.
Here is some extreme T-8 riding http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZoxzsJXxok
I used the Go Pro HD Hero to shoot the video and a Nikon D-80 for the stills.
I checked out your video, it looks like fun. You are pretty good on the Trikke. I would love to checkout all the versions of the Trikke eventually. Thanks for the comments and keep them coming. I would love to hear what else you would like to see on the site!
Actually the rider is Darrick Bruyn of Central Oregon Trikke and he can do the skate parks while I am satisfied with riding down hills on land and snow. Trikkes are addicting as well as being tons of fun while you get a great workout.
