NBA 2K11
Among gamers, the NBA2K series is to basketball what EA’s Madden NFL is to football. The latest installment, NBA 2K11 is set for release tomorrow (Oct 5th), with IGN calling it the “best sports game of this generation” and adding “one of the most incredible year-over-year improvements of a game imaginable.” Speaking of the best, Michael Jordan graces the cover, validating not only the game, but his status as a marketing icon, despite not having played a meaningful game in 12 years. NBA2K11 comes with all the staples – all 30 teams, franchise mode, unlocking classic teams, etc. But it’s the Jordan Challenges that has everyone talking. 2K Sports has recreated his greatest games, challenging you to relive each and match Jordan’s stat lines to get to the next level. For example, in one challenge, you have to match MJ’s career high 69 points while shooting over 50% and winning the game against the 1990 Cleveland Cavaliers. As far as game play, NBA 2K11 comes with improved visuals, stunning likenesses to the real players and increased AI (artificial intelligence). Sports gamers have long been waiting for the video game that looks like an actual televised game – is this finally it?
